What are they made of?
Our Zip bags are made from plant based materials. Mainly Plant Starch and PBAT which is derived from plants as well. They are free from BPA, PVC Or other harmful chemicals.
Where are they made?
Our Zip bags are made in China. See our main FAQ section about how we choose our suppliers and test our products.
Are they compostable for real?
Yes. They do have certifications to prove that they are compostable. They do meet BPI standards as well as AS5810 Certificate. See Certificate for further info.
Did they pass the worm test?
Yes. It is required to pass the AS5810 Certificate.
What certifications do you have?
We have Certificates by BPI and AS5810.

Are they freezer safe?
Yes, they are freezer safe. Just remember to write the content and the date. in our newer versions we added special lines for Date & content.
Are they microwave safe?
These bags should NOT be used in the microwave. Also We recommend not storing HOT liquids in them.
Can I use them in food recyclers?
They are designed to be decomposed by microorganisms in your composter and that’s what we recommend. We can not recommend adding them to your food recycler.
Why are they green and not clear?
All current Zip bags that are made from plants are green so they are not see through. however you can write on them easily
Can I write on them?
Yes, we recommend you write the content and the date on them.
Can I store liquids in them?
Yes as long as it is not hot. Please remember that storing any organic material for a long time may trigger the biodegradation process by the bacteria in the food so we do not recommend using them for storing liquids for more than few days
Are they as effective as plastic bags?
Yes, our compostable ziplock bags are designed to match the durability of traditional plastic bags while being environmentally friendly.
Can I use them to store hot liquids?
No, please do not store hot liquids.
Would they start deteriorating after a year of use?
They are designed to start degradation only when they are in composting conditions. We do encourage you to use them in less than a year. If you store them in cold and dry temperature they will last much longer. If you have yours for more than one year please inspect carefully prior to using.
Can I throw them in the trash?
They do not compost unless in composting conditions. If you do not have an area or composting facility nearby, we offer return composting services to our subscribe & Save members! Please check it out Here. Throwing them in trash kinda defeats the purpose.
